One day I headed out with my Dad to do some fishing at Lake Sabrina, near Bishop California. Much to our surprise the lake had been drained for dam repairs. So we pulled out the metal detectors and gathered up a bag full of old fishing lures instead.
If you could, please also tell me what the bass seem to like at that lake and the conditions. Topwater chuggers, stickbaits, or plastic worms etc.
Lake Dixion is one of the best bass fisheries in the world. Spring lake is also great, but Dixion sticks out. The bass in these lakes are HUGE! Use strong rods reels line ect. Big swimbaits, a foot long is normal. Fish them in or around 30 feet of water

While it's true that "a shallow bass is a biting bass," it's also certain that "a shallow bass is a nervous bass." I was reminded of this a few months ago while fishing a small bass lake a few miles from my Southern California home.
