How do I file a mechanics lien on a boat in Florida.?

I did a re-fit on a fishing boat in Miami and the owner still owes me a substantial amount of money. He keeps promising to pay but hasn't come through. I discovered the boat is now for sale, how do I place a lien on the vessel to secure payment?

If it is an "FL" registered vessel, you lose the lien as soon as you return it to possession of the owner. Your only remedy then is a personal law suit against the owner.

If it is Coast Guard registered, look up admiralty lawyers
