If you make a loop by gently shaving off the coating on one side of the line for the area where to two will touch at end of your flyline/head and whip it tightly with 6/0 tying silk. Then get a piece of Shrink tube (sold for Carp fishing rigs) and slip that over the whole loop, heat in the steam from a kettle then dip in cold water. Carefully cut away the shrink tube, the heat will have compressed the loop to narrow it. The joint should only be an issue when landing a fish because if the head is the correct weight to balance the rod the joint should be outside the rod tip when casting. Hope this helps.
