Free fishing clinic for kids set for June 12 in Estacada By Vickie Kavanagh, The Oregonian June 03, 2010, 1:05PM ESTACADA – Grab your fishing pole and head to Promontory Park on June 12 for the annual Clackamas River Junior Fishing Clinic.
A fishing derby for ages 14 and younger, prizes, crafts and other activities will be featured from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the park at 40500 E. Highway 224
Learning stations will include aquatic insects, fish anatomy and observation, stream ecology and water safety. Lunch and drinks will be provided, but children are encouraged to bring their own fishing rods and coolers for taking home their catch. Limited quantities of rods and bait will be available for use.
The free event is sponsored by Portland General Electric, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Trout Unlimited, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Mt. Hood National Forest and several local merchants. For details, contact Brian Eberhardt, clinic coordinator for Clackamas...
