I need help with my fishing rod!?

Ok, so i bought a Shakespear fishing rod and a Essentials South Bend 137 piece deluxe tackle kit! I don't know how to set it up. And i keep hooking the hook to my finger! All i wanted was to quickly get a fishing rod so i can catch a few fish but it turns
