A few buddies and I are planning on taking a trip up to Colorado to go camping before the fall semester, and we have no idea where to go. Basically, we want to be able to fly fish on a lake or river, and hike around a little bit. Good scenery is always

Spent some time here once camped, fished, floated the river it was great. There were people there of course but in all I had a good time and the folks I did meet were very nice. check it out

Hopefully you guys can steer me in the right direction. I will be moving to Denver, Colorado soon and would like to get into fly fishing. If anyone is familiar with the surrounding fly fishing opportunities could you please tell me the appropriate rod and reel size/length/weight that would be best for this area? I was thinking a 9 ft. 5 wt. fly rod with matching reel. Would this be adequate for the area? Also, on a 5 wt. is it that important to get a reel with a good drag or will the drag never really come into play due to the size of fish in the area?
