Any tips for fly fishing in the Northeast?

I'm trying to do a little fishing in New York before there's no hope left. Any tips? What fish are still biting in November? What flies are they biting? Is there even a reason to fish....?
I'm freshwater fishing.


I've had luck in colder water fishing for Steelhead in the rivers, but I used salmon eggs. I've also caught some larger smallmouth bass out in Lake Ontario, but I haven't done much fly fishing. November shouldn't be too much trouble, the waters are
